The event brought together partners who showcased their successful collaboration cases, while the organizers introduced expanded support directions – from new project opportunities to joint application preparation programs for Horizon Europe and capacity building for Ukrainian publishers, particularly in scientific periodicals.

The key idea that ran through all the speeches was the need to shape a global vision of Ukraine beyond imperial or Soviet narratives – as a modern, strong, and integral part of the European community. This message was particularly echoed in the Senate Hall of the University of London, where the first lady Olena Zelenska introduced an initiative “The Global Coalition of Ukrainian Studies”. Dozens of universities from around the world, mostly from the United Kingdom, have already expressed their desire to join this ambitious platform.

Ivano-Frankivsk National Technical University of Oil and Gas was represented by the Twinning initiative coordinator, Associate Professor Marian SLabinoha. During his work, he had a meeting with the deputy dean of LSBU Global Ravindran Sundararajan and the manager of international partnership Sophie da Silva, the representatives of London South Bank University. Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion by the Russian Federation, which is a reliable partner of the IFNTUOG, has confirmed interest in implementing new joint ideas within the presented directions at the conference.

The successes of cooperation are already yielding tangible results: this year, the first 8 graduates of the double degree master’s program “Information Technologies for Sustainable Energy Development” received their higher education diplomas – simultaneously from IFNTUOG and the LSBU. This not only attests to the high quality of education provided, but also confirms the uniqueness of the program, which was made possible through the initiative of Twinning Ukraine, initiated by Cormack Consultancy Group. IFNTUOG is one of the six universities in Ukraine and the only one in the Carpathian region whose educational project was selected for a pilot launch at the beginning of 2023.

The constant support of British partners and the dedication of the Twinning initiative organizers create a powerful impetus for further development, helping to move forward and implement new ideas that strengthen the university’s international position and open the way to new academic opportunities.

On November 13th, a conference dedicated to the new opportunities of the Twinning initiative between Ukrainian and British universities took place at Birkbeck (University of London).
