Developing cooperation with a British partner

24.07.2024

During the second annual conference of the “Twinning” initiative on cooperation between universities in Ukraine and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, held in Warsaw, the Vice-Rector of Ivano-Frankivsk National Technical University of Oil and Gas Oleksandr Kondrat and the coordinator of the double degree program “Information Technologies for Sustainable Energy Engineering” associate professor Marian Slabinoha attended a reception at the Embassy of the United Kingdom in the Republic of Poland.

Thanks to the work of the conference organizers, representatives of IFNTUOG were given the opportunity for the first time in over two years of the war (and at the same time of collaboration with a British partner, London South Bank University) to meet with a representative of this university in person. Professor Ravindran Sundararajan, representative of the Engineering School of LSBU expressed their support and readiness to contribute to the restoration of the university after the recent missile attack by the Russian Federation.

After the opening remarks by representatives of the British diplomatic mission in Ukraine and Poland, and a presentation by the head of the consulting agency “CCG,” Charles Cormack, the conversation turned informal and focused on current cooperation (research grants, joint degree programs), as well as the vision for future projects. During the discussion, a number of ideas emerged regarding collaborative research and educational programs for further implementation.

“Friends are known in trouble” and “A friend in need is a friend indeed” – two proverbs in different languages that speak about common values. The partnership between IFNTUNG and LSBU during such a difficult time for Ukraine is a confirmation of the truth of these words.
