The “Graduation Project” module is the culminating stage of study in the IT4SEE Master’s program in the third semester. This is a comprehensive independent project in which a student integrates acquired knowledge in IT and energy to solve a specific scientific or applied task that is relevant for the sustainable development of the industry.
Main characteristics:
- Status: Compulsory.
- Volume: 10 ECTS credits.
- Execution and presentation language: English.
- Location in course: 3rd semester (final stage).
The purpose and content of the module
The purpose of the project is to demonstrate the ability of the master’s student to conduct independent research and develop innovative solutions at the intersection of disciplines. The work can be done in the form of industrial internship. In this program, students work on a real case study of an energy or IT company. The final outcome is the writing of a Master’s thesis and its public defense before an examination committee.
What will you learn?
During the project execution, students enhance the following skills:
- Conducting in-depth research: analyze scientific literature, formulate hypotheses, and select research methodology.
- Developing practical solutions: designing the architecture of information systems, modeling energy processes, or proposing energy efficiency strategies.
- Analyzing the results: To confirm the effectiveness of the proposed solutions, it is important to use data analysis methods.
- Present the results: Prepare a detailed report and present your ideas to the international community in English.
International and industrial dimension
The distinctive feature of preparing a project on the IT4SEE program is:
- British expertise: representatives of London South Bank University (LSBU) are involved during research projects as reviewers and consultants .
- Connection to practice: The topics of projects are often coordinated with industrial partners, which enables students to address pressing challenges in the post-war reconstruction of the energy system of Ukraine.
Practical value and career
A successful defense of the master’s project confirms the high qualifications of the graduate (level 7 according to the EQF) and entitles them to receive two diplomas – Ukrainian from IFNTUNG and British MSc from LSBU. The thesis becomes the main element of the professional portfolio, opening the way to leadership positions in international corporations or to furthering a research career at the PhD level.
